Vietnam Welcomes Iranian Tourists in Boost to Cultural Exchange

Vietnam marked a significant milestone in its international tourism efforts with the arrival of its first charter flight from Iran, bringing 200 visitors to Ho Chi Minh City. The launch of this route signals a strategic move by Vietnam to diversify its inbound tourism markets and strengthen ties with the Middle East. Timed to coincide with Nowruz, the Iranian New Year, the trip underscores Vietnam’s growing appeal to culturally curious travelers seeking new experiences during important holidays.

The 10-day itinerary offered to the Iranian group showcased Vietnam’s most iconic destinations, including the Cu Chi Tunnels, Ben Thanh Market, War Remnants Museum, Ba Na Hills, Hoi An Ancient Town, One Pillar Pagoda, Temple of Literature, and Hoan Kiem Lake. The journey spanned the country’s southern, central, and northern regions, giving travelers an immersive introduction to Vietnam’s rich history, cultural heritage, and natural beauty.

Accommodation was arranged at a selection of Vietnam’s top-tier hotels such as New World Saigon, Equatorial Ho Chi Minh, Four Points by Sheraton Danang, and Dolce by Wyndham Hanoi. These premium offerings reflect Vietnam’s readiness to welcome high-end travelers and position itself as a competitive player in the luxury tourism segment.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, this initiative is part of a broader plan to enhance Vietnam’s visibility in new international markets. By targeting Middle Eastern travelers and providing curated travel experiences, Vietnam aims to broaden its tourism appeal and increase visitor diversity. The department emphasized the importance of tailoring tourism products to meet the cultural preferences and expectations of visitors from emerging markets.

The momentum is set to continue with a second group of 200 Iranian tourists scheduled to arrive in Hanoi on March 28. They will embark on a similar north-to-south tour through April 5, further solidifying the relationship between the two nations.

This effort reflects Vietnam’s proactive approach to expanding its global tourism footprint through cultural diplomacy and targeted outreach. By opening its doors to new visitor segments, the country is positioning itself as an inclusive and versatile destination poised for long-term growth.
