Qatar Airways, in partnership with Visit Qatar and Discover Qatar, orchestrated an engaging roadshow across Lagos and Abuja aimed at elevating Nigeria’s awareness of Doha as a premier leisure and stopover destination. The initiative attracted around 120 travel trade professionals, including over 100 in Lagos and 20 key stakeholders in Abuja, combining vibrant networking with business-focused discussions.
The events spotlighted Qatar’s rich tourism offerings – from cultural landmarks and luxury hospitality to curated stopover experiences for transit passengers. Attendees were immersed in presentations on Doha’s world-class attractions, stopover packages, and seamless travel via Qatar Airways’ global network of more than 170 destinations.
By bringing destination management firms, hotels, tour operators and travel agents together, the roadshow strengthened business-to-business ties and fostered potential partnerships. This engagement is geared towards creating tailored travel products for Nigerian tourists, reinforcing Qatar’s ambition to enhance its profile within West Africa’s fastest-growing outbound market.
This strategic marketing push aligns with Qatar’s National Tourism Sector Strategy, targeting six million annual visitors by 2030. Nigeria plays a pivotal role in this plan, thanks to its expanding middle class and appetite for global travel. The roadshow marks a significant step in establishing Doha as the preferred stopover and leisure hub for Nigerian travellers.
For international travel professionals, the message is clear: Qatar is leveraging its connectivity, tourism infrastructure, and cultural assets to secure a deeper foothold in West Africa. As airline partnerships and bespoke packages take root, Qatar Airways is not just connecting continents; it is crafting compelling travel experiences.
