Qatar Airways has secured a historic agreement with Boeing, committing to purchase up to 210 widebody aircraft, marking the largest such order in Boeing’s history. The deal includes firm orders for 130 Boeing 787 Dreamliners and 30 777-9 jets, with options for an additional 50 aircraft. This monumental agreement, valued at $96 billion, was announced during a signing ceremony in Doha, attended by U.S. President Donald J. Trump and Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The order solidifies Qatar Airways’ position as the largest operator of Boeing 787s in the Middle East. The 787 Dreamliner is renowned for its fuel efficiency and passenger comfort, while the 777-9 is Boeing’s largest twin-engine aircraft, designed to offer enhanced efficiency and reduced emissions. Both aircraft models are powered by GE Aerospace engines, with Qatar Airways committing to purchase 260 GEnx engines for the 787s and 60 GE9X engines for the 777-9s.

This agreement is a significant boost for Boeing, especially as it continues to recover from previous challenges. The deal is expected to support approximately 400,000 jobs in the United States, encompassing manufacturing, delivery, and maintenance roles.

The announcement of this record-breaking order has positively impacted Boeing’s stock performance, reflecting investor confidence in the company’s future prospects.

This strategic move by Qatar Airways underscores its commitment to expanding its fleet with state-of-the-art, fuel-efficient aircraft, positioning the airline for continued growth and enhanced service offerings in the competitive global aviation market.
