Portugal is enhancing its appeal as a premier travel destination in 2025 with a host of new cultural, culinary, and eco-tourism offerings. From historic celebrations to modern art installations, the country is providing diverse experiences for travelers.

In Sintra, the 30th anniversary of its UNESCO World Heritage status is being marked with a year-long festival. The celebrations include outdoor activities like geocaching, mountain biking, and hiking, as well as cultural events such as escape rooms and live music performances.

Lisbon has introduced the Macam modern art gallery, housed in an 18th-century palace near the River Tagus. The gallery features over 600 artworks from artists like Paula Rego and Olafur Eliasson. The complex also includes a 64-room hotel, a restaurant, and a performance space.

The Costa Verde region in northwest Portugal is emerging as a tranquil alternative to the Algarve, ideal for hiking and surfing. The area boasts quiet beaches, pine forests, rivers, and vineyards producing vinho verde. In the Alentejo region, the O Val farmhouse has been restored and reopened as a creative retreat venue. For adventure enthusiasts, new e-bike tours are available through the Douro Valley and along the Atlantic coast, offering scenic routes with stops at vineyards and historic cities. Additionally, self-guided walking holidays along the Rota Vicentina coastal path provide opportunities to explore beaches, clifftops, and medieval towns.

Albufeira will host Portugal’s national gastronomy day on July 26, focusing on regional specialties like razor clams and cockles. The event aims to showcase the country’s rich culinary heritage. New accommodations include the Kodawari Flores hotel in Porto, emphasizing sleep quality with high-end bedding, and Quinta do Pinheiro cottages in the Algarve’s Ria Formosa nature reserve, offering eco-friendly stays amidst natural beauty.
