Morocco’s tourism sector has seen remarkable growth, with 15.9 million visitors recorded by November 2024, marking a 20% increase compared to the same period in 2023, according to the tourism ministry. November alone welcomed 1.3 million tourists, a 31% jump from the previous year, underscoring the nation’s growing allure as a travel destination.

Moroccan expatriates significantly contributed to this rise, with visits from residents abroad increasing by 17%, accounting for an additional 1.1 million travelers. This strong connection between Moroccans abroad and their homeland remains a key driver of the sector’s success.

Tourism, which represents about 7% of Morocco’s GDP, is a critical economic pillar, supporting job creation and foreign currency inflows. To further boost the industry, Morocco has expanded its air travel network and promoted lesser-known destinations to appeal to a broader range of travelers.

With ambitious targets, Morocco aims to attract 17.5 million visitors by 2026 and 26 million by 2030, when it will co-host the FIFA World Cup with Spain and Portugal. These goals reflect the nation’s commitment to cementing its status as a premier global tourist destination.
