Marriott Raises Forecast Amid Stronger Demand

Marriott International has raised its full-year revenue growth forecast after reporting stronger-than-expected third-quarter results, supported by continued demand for hotel accommodation across North America and several international markets. The American hospitality group announced on 2 November that worldwide revenue per available room increased 6.5%, reflecting higher room rates and improved occupancy.
The measure, commonly used to assess hotel performance, increased 7.4% across the United States and Canada and 4.4% in international markets. Marriott reported third-quarter net income of $794 million, compared with $728 million a year earlier, while revenue rose 8% to approximately $7.01 billion. The company now expects worldwide revenue per available room growth of between 4.5% and 5% for the full year, above its previous forecast.
Performance varied considerably between regions. Demand remained particularly strong in parts of Asia-Pacific, while European markets also contributed to growth. The Middle East continued to experience disruption from regional conflict, although conditions improved compared with the previous quarter. Marriott's development pipeline reached more than 634,000 rooms across approximately 4,200 properties, demonstrating continued expansion despite economic uncertainty.
The results suggest that international hotel demand remains resilient, particularly among business travellers and customers seeking premium accommodation. Marriott's extensive collection of brands and loyalty programme provide opportunities to capture demand across different markets and price categories. However, regional instability, rising travel costs and changes in consumer spending could influence future performance. The company's upgraded outlook indicates confidence that stronger markets will continue offsetting weaker destinations through the remainder of 2026.
