Guernsey has recorded its highest-ever visitor recommendation scores, signalling strengthening sentiment within its tourism sector alongside rising passenger volumes.
The Guernsey Travel and Visitor Accommodation Bulletin shows that since 2023 the proportion of visitors likely to recommend the island to family and friends has increased, reaching an all-time high in 2025. The recommendation score now matches that of Jersey. Visitors described Guernsey as a “peaceful and lovely place to visit”, with some highlighting practical features such as a reliable bus service. The data also indicates that the number of overnight visitors in 2025 rose compared with 2024.
Clare Crowson, co-chair of the Tourism Management Board, welcomed the overall growth reflected in the report. She pointed to new initiatives, including an upcoming British Airways link and the Big Eat festival, as part of a positive trajectory for the island. According to Crowson, improved visitor experiences are contributing to stronger endorsement levels, suggesting that Guernsey’s tourism offering is resonating more effectively with travellers.
Passenger data reinforces the trend. Departures from Guernsey by ferry, yacht and plane increased by nearly 10 per cent between late 2024 and late 2025. Air travel remained the most popular mode of transport and held steady throughout 2025. The figures also show growth in day-trip visitors arriving by plane or ferry compared with the previous year, with nearly half travelling to visit family and friends. Day trips for that purpose increased by 30 per cent in 2025.
France accounted for the majority of visitors, with arrivals from the country rising by more than 60 per cent year on year. While the uplift in day visitors supports overall numbers, the Tourism Management Board has signalled a preference for converting more short visits into overnight stays, citing the greater economic contribution of multi-night tourism.
