Eurostar has resumed its direct train services from Amsterdam to London as of Monday, 10 February, following the completion of a new UK departure terminal at Amsterdam Centraal station. For the past several months, Eurostar had been operating services via Brussels due to ongoing redevelopment work at the Dutch station. However, with the new terminal now in operation, Eurostar will offer three daily services on weekdays and Sundays from Amsterdam to London St Pancras, and two services on Saturdays. The operator plans to increase this number in the coming months, with the goal of running five daily trains on the route by next year.

Gwendoline Cazenave, CEO of Eurostar, expressed pride in the launch of the new terminal, which she described as part of the company’s commitment to providing a seamless, sustainable travel experience. The terminal, which houses UK Border Force immigration officials, also provides additional amenities such as wifi, seating areas, and a café. This move is expected to enhance passenger convenience and comfort on the high-speed route.

From 10 February through late March, Eurostar will increase capacity on the Amsterdam-London trains by 10%, with each train now able to carry 400 passengers. However, between 30 March and 22 April, services will temporarily return to the Brussels route as work continues on the Amsterdam Centraal platform. After this period, Eurostar plans to increase capacity further, with trains accommodating up to 600 passengers per journey, reaching full capacity of 650 passengers by September.

Seema Malhotra, the UK’s Minister for Migration and Citizenship, welcomed the reinstatement of the direct connection, emphasising the importance of maintaining robust border security with the presence of UK Border Force officers in the Netherlands.
