The Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), set to open on November 1, 2025, will become the world’s largest archaeological museum. Located next to the Giza Pyramids, GEM will showcase over 100,000 artifacts, including the complete treasures of King Tutankhamun, many of which have never been displayed before. The museum’s modern design, featuring translucent alabaster walls, will provide stunning views of the Giza Plateau, fusing contemporary architecture with ancient heritage.

Originally planned for a July 2025 opening, the inauguration was delayed due to regional tensions. However, with the new November 1 date confirmed by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, the government has reaffirmed its commitment to a grand but financially sustainable event that reflects Egypt’s cultural legacy.

This museum’s opening is expected to inject fresh energy into Egypt’s tourism sector, drawing millions of international visitors and providing a boost to the country’s economy. GEM’s innovative use of technology, such as augmented reality and digital tools, will transform the visitor experience, cementing Egypt’s position as a global leader in cultural tourism.

As the world eagerly anticipates the GEM’s unveiling, it will not only celebrate Egypt’s ancient civilisation but also signal a new chapter for the nation’s tourism industry.
